New biographies for the Rochfords of Walpole

Posted by

After several months’ hard work researching, writing and rewriting, I have at length published four new biographies for the Walpole Rochfords, together with an overview of the known monuments relating to them.

The founder of this family, Sir Ralph de Rochford I of Walpole, was a younger son of Sir Sayer de Rochford of Fenne.

The last of the family appears to have been Master Ralph Rochford, a Cambridge academic who was referred to in one of the famous Paston letters. After him, the family estates seem to have passed to the Welbys.
